I'm placing my DCBS order, but there is no solicit for Guardians #26 or the new Nova issue!

Pretty much. Official word is they are on hiatus during the 7-months of The Thanos Imperative. Nova and GoG will be in those issues along with Quasar and the Surfer. But basically, yeah. Ninja cancellation.

Yeah they are on "hiatus." I asked Tom Brevoort about that, this is what he said: Why the decision to put GotG and Nova on hiatus? With the launch of the Thanos Imperative, seems like if they tied in they would get a much needed boost. We've got other plans for the cosmic portion of the universe in the future. We'll get Nova in Secret Avengers (speculation ), hopefully they don't downgrade him and make him like a rookie etc.

wtf.
"He was transformed from a Marvel Two-In-One punchline to the single most powerful member of the Mighty Avengers, perhaps the single most powerful human being in the Marvel Universe, period, someone able to go toe-to-toe with the Silver Surfer and . . . hold back for fear of hurting the Surfer."

As quickly as it was revived, it was destroyed. The only consolation that I have about this is that it's yet more Marvel books that I'm axing from my pull list, thus saving money. I literally moved into my new house last week, so maybe this is karma-style timing for this stuff. Ms. Marvel, gone. Nova, gone. GotG, gone, New Avengers, gone. Mighty Avengers, gone. After the Iron Man movie, most of these Iron Man mini series will be over with, so I'll be down to one (maybe two) Iron Man titles and a handful of other books I've followed.

Without Cosmic Marvel titles, I'd only be collecting ASM. That's it. Unbelievable. I grew up on Marvel first, DC second. Nowadays, DC is getting my dollars. Just better bang for my buck all the way around.
I honestly have no idea why there isn't a bigger market for these books?
Here's hoping the Thanos Imperative is a slobberknocker.

I honestly have no idea why there isn't a bigger market for these books? Because comic companies have priced kids right out of comic books, man! Once my generation (give or take a few years) is done reading, the hobby is going to be completely dead unless there is some paradigm shift in how it's done. Unfortunately, I'm not on board with digital comics at all, so if it goes that route, I'm out anyway.

Tell you what...get rid of the damn gloss paper and give me standerd comic paper back...reduce the cost of the books and more will be bought...they are too damn expensive...it is not in relation to how they have been in the past...when i first started collecting they were .75 cents a book...and i was able to get most all of marvel books. some independents, a lot of DC books I was collecting well over 50 or 60 books a month...guess how much that cost me...40 to 50 dollars a month at most...now i spend 80 to 90 bucks a month and barely get 15 to 20 books a month...no wonder titles don't make it...to expensive to try out anything new...when i was twelve and got a little extra money...I would go by books and ice cream and still have money to spare...kids today have to get well over 3 bucks just to get 1 book of a 15 minute read...and most books are 4 bucks now...want to save the industry...reduce costs and sell the books cheaper...you will have more titles out in circulation and in the end i just want a book to read and great art...i don't care if its shiney!!!

Yeah, what kid is going to buy ten comics for 40 bucks that he is going to read in twenty minutes when he can go buy a video game (heck even rent one for under ten bucks) and play it for hours. I can't recall ever seeing a fourteen or fifteen year old in my lcs or any other. Really, video game prices haven't changed much since we were kids. Comic prices have gone up a few hundred percent - at least Marvel/DC (what a majority spend their money on). However, I do remember spending a few bucks on the Valiant titles so...but not a majority. Its looking more and more like the digital route. I prefer to read the real thing, but nowadays every kid has an i-everything. Plus, companies would save a bundle on printing, shipping etc. - and make more profit. With the launch of the iPad, digital comic readers aren't far off.

I can't believe they're canceling two of the best series they produce.
I have to agree with Aniscape. I don't really care about glossy paper. I really miss the newsprint smell. I think the problem is printing costs go up with different stock used for the cover, so even newsprint ends up needing to be $3 a copy once you put the cover on the book. Someone should experiment with doing comics the way the old British Marvel titles were done- cover was the same stock as he interior. But then again, Wednesday Comics was newsprint, involved less cutting and still cost a bundle.
But at $4/ copy, I'm finding most of the time my money is better spent on Silver or Bronze age comics I don't have yet on Ebay or in bargain boxes at cons.
I'm also finding myself getting bored with a lot of the current standard superhero stories. More and more i find myself drifting to oddball independent comics, like Complete Alice In Wonderland, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, etc.
I think the face of the comics industry will change drastically in the next few years.
